1 Samuel 14

Read 1 Samuel 14 – always pray for wisdom and understanding, then read the chapter before you read what I have to say.   That will develop your ears to hear what the Holy Spirit is saying to you.

The Bible is a Living Word.   You can read it over and over, and get a fresh understanding each time.   The bible doesn’t change, but you do.   You grow, and learn, and face new decisions constantly, and God’s Word will continually bless you with fresh wisdom and insights.

We get to know Johnathon,  Saul’s son, a bit more today. We also see Saul make a foolish oath that only leads his men to sin (14:24).  In fact, we see Saul’s ego still making decisions without asking the Lord.  Fortunately,  he has wise counsel from his priest:   LET’S ASK GOD FIRST (14:36).  Beloved,  may those words echo in your heart as you make decisions,  big and small,  today. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿฝโ€๐Ÿซ๐Ÿ’ฌ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ—จ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

1 Samuel 13

Read 1 Samuel 13 – How could things go so poorly in a single chapter?  Saul leads with an immaturity that is staggering.   He summoned the fighting men,  selected 3000 and sent the rest home (13:2).  Why do you suppose he would do this when his next move was to go up against the Philistines?  Saul summoned Israel with the rams horn,  but when they saw the perilous situation,  they hid (13:6).  Then Saul takes matters into his own hands and pulls the blasphemous stunt of sacrificing the burnt offeringsโ€ฆ only a priest was qualified to do this (13:19).  Have you ever overstepped and taken matters into your own hands that went beyond your responsibility? What happened? ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ›‘๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ›‘๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

1 Samuel 12

Read 1 Samuel 12 – Reflection can remind us of what is true,  of mistakes we don’t want to repeat, and reflection is a neon sign of God’s hand of protection over us.  Samuel is drawing the Israelites into a moment of reflection,  with a recount of their history as he steps into retirement. The Israelites realize asking for a king was essentially an abandonment of God and they were scared (12:19).  Samuel refocuses them with a piece of wisdom that still stands true:  “DON’T BE AFRAID, ” SAMUEL REASSURED THEM, “YOU HAVE CERTAINLY DONE WRONG, BUT MAKE SURE THAT NOW YOU WORSHIP THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND DON’T TURN YOUR BACK ON HIM. ”  Beloved,  whatever mistakes you’ve made,  no matter how many times you’ve veered off course, take hold of this wisdom.  The Lord’s mercies are new every morning.  ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿฅฐโ˜๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ญ

1 Samuel

Read 1Samuel 11 – Saul’s first call to action. King Nahash of Ammon came against the region of Jabesh. The citizens willing offered a peace treaty, including to be servants of king Nahash. But the king required them to be marked with a gouged out eye as well. When word reached Saul, the Spirit of God came powerfully upon him (11:6). He rallied Israel and launched a surprise attack that left only a remnant (11:11). The army was ready for more, but Saul lead like a leader, gave glory to God and assembled Israel in Gilgal for a ceremony before the Lord. Saul is king, and all were filled with joy. God. King. Country. How perfect in reflection of Father’s Day. Men who lead well live surrendered to Jesus, they know when to channel their anger against injustice, and they know when to relent, giving glory to God. How do you face adversity? โ˜๏ธ๐Ÿคบ๐Ÿ™‡โ€โ™€๏ธโค๐Ÿ™‡โ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿคบโ˜๏ธ

Joshua

My goal is to read every page of my bible. ย  I’ve read through the bible many times, but I want this bible to have notes on every page… with my questions and insights filling the wide margins… I have loved getting to know God more fully, as I take my time this time. Today, I’m beginning Joshua. ย  It’s in the front 1/4 between Deuteronomy and Judges, and I would love some company!ย ย ย

Read Joshua 1-2… what stands out?ย  How many times does God tell Joshua to BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS? ย  Why did Rahab protect the spies? Are you willing to do what God instructs in Joshua 1:8? Let’s go! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿค“๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿคบ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Joshua 3… WOW!ย  This is so fascinating! ย  This is the generation who only knew what it was to wander in the desert…. to the complaints of their elders and the rumors of this “promised land”.ย  At last,ย  the day has arrived,ย  wrapped in reverence, order and supernatural miracles…. 3:13 is packed with amazingness – the Lord of all the earth traveled with them in the Ark of the Covenant.ย  The Jordan River stood like a wall as soon as the priests set foot in it…. notice it took that step of faith by the priests before the Lord brought forth the miracle.ย  Are you waiting on God for something?ย  Could it be He’s waiting on you to take that first step of faith where He will meet you with the miracle?ย  What stands out to you in Joshua 3?๐Ÿž๐ŸŒฌ๐Ÿ‘ฃ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ‘ฃ๐ŸŒฌ๐Ÿž

Read Joshua 4.ย  The Lord instructed Joshua to choose 12 men,ย  one from each tribe, to get 12 stones from the middle of the Jordan where the priests were standing(4:3). They were to carry them out on their shoulders (4:5)…. these were not little rocks. Then they were to build a memorial, so the people of Israel would remember what the Lord did on this day forever.ย  (4:7)ย  Remembering is so important to your faith,ย  and your legacy is to pass it on to future generations.ย  What markers of God’s hand of protection come to mind as you read this?ย  What stories of deliverance can you pass on?ย  You’re going to live through dry seasons. ย  Holding tight to what the Lord has done will give you strength and hope to keep trusting in Jesus. ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ’•

Read Joshua 5. Things are becoming brand new. News of the divine crossing of the Jordan reached the neighboring kings. ย  It would have been normal for them to strike out in war against these foreign Israelites, but instead the kings ‘lost heart and were paralyzed with fear’.ย  When God is present,ย  even the enemies of God tremble. ย  One day every knee will bow…(Isaiah 45:23, Romans 14:11) the human race is a level playing field before God Almighty. Three more phenomenon things take place in our little chapter – the men are circumcised (5:2-8), they celebrate the first post-slavery passover, eating unleavened bread… remember, manna is all this generation knew and it is gone forever.ย  Then, the commander of the Lord’s army appears before Joshua,ย  holding a sword and instructing him to take off his sandals,ย  for the place he was standing was holy (5:13-15).ย  Big changes! Big things are happening!ย  Are you ready for the adventure of walking with Jesus?๐Ÿ‘ฃ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Read Joshua 6… those walls came down! ย  Jericho is the first fruit of all the Lord is giving to the Israelites. ย  Therefore, the whole town is His (ordinarily the spoils of war go to the warriors).ย  Do you have a Jericho situation in your life? ย  A battle so BIG that God is your only hope? ย  I sure do! ย  Let’s lean in to Him and do what He says, even if it seems weird…. just think how weird it must have seemed to the Israelite’s to walk in circles silently. ๐Ÿ“ฏ๐Ÿ›ก๐Ÿคบ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿคบ๐Ÿ›ก๐Ÿ“ฏ

Read Joshua 7, it’s a serious chapter about the consequences of sin… rather appropriate for us Mom’s (I wrote this on Mother’s Day), the guardians of integrity.ย  We start with an Israeli defeat that shocked and dismayed Joshua.ย  The Lord revealed to him that there was sin in his midst, and He could not bless Israel until the corruption was dealt with.ย  It was dealt with severely… much like any sin in our life must be completely confessed and removed…. not hidden and lied about. God wants your true and complete freedom. ๐Ÿค—โค๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ‘†๐Ÿ™Œโค๐Ÿค—

Read Joshua 8.ย  This is a bloody one. ย  Ai is conquered according to the plan the Lord laid out.ย  Remember,ย  Ai was the town in Joshua 7, where the Israelites were defeated because of the sin of Achan.ย  The sin was dealt with and now Israel has the Lord’s favor once more. The first thing the Lord instructs Joshua is: DO NOT BE AFRAID. DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED.ย  (8:1)ย  When you find yourself up against something seemingly impossible, maybe something you’ve been defeated by in the past,ย  remember God’s command and do not be afraid.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿคบ๐Ÿ›ก๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ›ก๐Ÿคบ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Read Joshua 9 – act now,ย  pray later = pay later! ย  We read about a clever trick by the Gibeonites to fool Israel into making a treaty with them. Joshua asked good questions, who were they? Where did they come from?ย  But he, along with the leaders,ย  left God out of the decision process (9:14), and made a treaty with the Gibeonites. Upon realizing the deceit, Israel kept their word, integrity in a messy predicament, but sentenced them to be servants forever (9:23).ย  The Gibeonites accepted this without grumbling (9:25)… like Rahab in chapter 2, they came to the Lord as sinners willing to serve Him,ย  come what may. What treasure did you gather from Joshua 9? Beloved, pray first, live with integrity, do all things as if for Jesus Himself. ย  God bless your day. โคโค๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ™๐Ÿปโคโค

Read Joshua 10 – What an extraordinary day.ย  God was with Israel in victory and in the tangible, remarkable event of the holding the sun and moon in place. (10:13)ย  Did you realize the Bible was so exciting?ย  God is with Israel in these battles and He is securing the land, as promised.ย  Even though victory was assured,ย  the Israelites still had to step out in faith and action (10:19) Complacency…. waiting for Jesus to handle things while sitting on the couch doesn’t fly. ย  What is the Lord calling you to join Him in today? ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿปโ›ˆ๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒšโ›ˆ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Read Joshua 11-12 as our saga comes to a dramatic conclusion. ย  The kings surrounding Israel join forces against God’s beloved.ย  Verse 11:4 says they were as numerous as the sand on the seashore. Yet,ย  again,ย  God tells Joshua not to be afraid because by this time tomorrow He would hand them over,ย  slain,ย  to Israel (11:6).ย  At last, chapter 11 concludes with Israel’s victory and the precious words:ย  THEN THE LAND HAD REST FROM WAR.ย  Chapter 12 is a summary of all the kings and territories conquered. It was getting weary,ย  right? War is brutal.ย  In our day,ย  the world is also volatile, but God is still in control.ย  He tells us what the future holds and He still says: DO NOT BE AFRAID. โ˜๏ธ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ‘‘โ˜๏ธ

Read Psalm 1.ย  We ended yesterday with a time for the land to rest from war. ย  Let’s give ourselves reprieve as well by taking in the wisdom of Psalm 1.ย  We have seen it play out in the Joshua chapters, and as you keep drawing nearer, you will see it in your own life.ย  Blessed is the one who has no tolerance for corruption, who delights in the law of the Lord and mediates on it day and night (1:1).ย  That person is like a well watered tree planted by streams of water (1:3)…. What a lovely visual of what it is to walk close to Jesus, with deep roots, always refreshed, yielding fruit and prospering (1:3).ย  The Lord watches over such a person,ย  whereas the wicked are simply blown away like chaff(1:4)…. no matter where you fall in this equation, there is hope. ย  THE LORD’S MERCIES ARE NEW EVERY MORNING.ย  (Lamentations 3:23). ๐ŸŒ„๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ’๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿž

Read Joshua 13.ย  Sometimes I read scripture and think there must be more to it than what I’m getting. ย  God has blessed many a scholar before me to dive in. I tapped in to David Guzik’s study guide via Blueletterbible.org , and the treasures rolled out one after another! He starts with 13:1 where God tells Joshua he is old, and much land remains to be conquered.ย  As a Christian,ย  if you’re still breathing,ย  God still has work for you.ย  Our chapter covers the breakdown of land disbursement among the tribes…. order and responsibility are important to God. ย  He gives us good things and expects us to care for them. Mr. Guzik makes the point, “What the land was to Israel,ย  Jesus is to us.ย  We are to possess all of Him, and to keep pressing on to have all of Jesus. ” ๐Ÿ—บ๐Ÿก๐Ÿค“โ˜๏ธ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ—บ

Read Joshua 14.ย  A little back story,ย  in Numbers 13, the Israelites were still wandering in the desert and God told Moses to commission a group of 12 spies to investigate the land of Canaan – one man from each tribe. They discovered a beautiful, fertile land – and procured samples including a cluster of grapes that took two men to carry (N 13:23).ย  But the towns were fortified and the people were strong, including giants!ย  Only Caleb and Joshua thought they should invade, the other 10 spies disagreed (N 13:31-33). So now, in our read,ย  Caleb asks Joshua for the land, recalling the obstacles, yet drawing on his faith:ย  BUT IF THE LORD IS WITH ME, I WILL DRIVE THEM OUT, JUST AS THE LORD SAIDย  (J 14:12b).ย  Is there something humanly impossible in your life, where you need to draw on your faith like Caleb? ย  Remember, sometimes I can’t,ย  but God can! ๐Ÿ’–โ˜๏ธ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ™๐Ÿปโ˜๏ธ๐Ÿ’–

Joshua 15 – Ladies day! We have lots of name/places as the Promised Land is put in order. ย  It’s tempting to have your eyes glaze over, at least for me! But, in the middle something unique happens.15:16-19 Caleb promises his daughters hand to the warrior who captures Kiriath-sepher… that was a cultural norm for daughters to be given away…. but inheritance was not. Not only does Achsah have land,ย  but she asks her father, Caleb, for springs of water, and has his favor. Notice her reverence as she asks- she gets off her donkey – a sign of respect. She asks for a blessing. ย  She honors him by stating what he has already given her. ย  Then she asks and receives not one,ย  but two springs. Clearly,ย  Achsah is wise and bold; she knows what she wants and she knows who she’s asking.ย  In the NT,ย  we are told to come boldly to the throne of grace. We are told we have not because we ask not. Jesus loves you so much; be like Achsah, reverent and bold with your prayers.๐Ÿ™‡โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Joshua 16… more land division, but in 16:10 there is a foreshadow of trouble brewing. ย  The Canaanites remained, but were confined to forced labor.ย  Remember, Psalm 1:1, it held the caution to not walk with the wicked.ย  If Ephraim had the power to force the Canaanites into labour, it stands to reason they could have defeated them as God instructed.ย  Convenience is no excuse to disobey the Lord. ย  Sin is sneaky, a little compromise, a little justification, has a ripple affect… like that first cookie that breaks the diet. Pay attention to your compromises. ๐Ÿช๐Ÿ”—๐Ÿ™๐Ÿปโš–๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ”—๐Ÿช

Joshua 17 – oh ye of little faith! ย  Our chapter illustrates some of the trouble the descendants of Joseph were having with the Canaanites. ย  They became strong and had chariots (17:17).ย  Joseph’s descendants needed the land, but feared the C’s were too strong to oppose (17:16). Joshua told them to take possession of the land, as much as they wanted. He stated their victory too.ย  Sometimes we all just need the reminder God’s presence and favour to be Strong and Courageous. ย  What do you need to face today? ย  Prayerfully ask the Lord to go before you,ย  and FEAR NOT!

Joshua 18 – Israel is now in control of the land (18:1), but 7 of the 12 tribes have yet to secure their lot. ย  Joshua admonishes them, asking what they were waiting for and setting their course in motion (18:3).ย  This begs the introspection – is there something God has already given you that you have yet to take hold of? ย  The 7 tribe’s were to elect 3 men from each tribe to study the land and report back (18:4).ย  Do you need to invest some time learning about this thing God has given you? ย  Set you course in action – what are you waiting for? ๐Ÿ—บ๐Ÿงญ๐Ÿค”โ˜๏ธ๐Ÿ™†โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿงญ๐Ÿ—บ

Joshua 19 – the division of the Promised Land is complete (19:51).ย  Remember, Moses represented the law, and the law can lead you to Promised Land,ย  but it cannot get you in. ย  Joshua is the servant- leader, he believed God would do as promised and bravely made it his life’s banner. ย  Notice he takes his portion of land last, in true humility… the first will be last and the last will be first (Matthew 20:16, Jesus speaking).ย  Selfishness did not compete as he was completing the task of establishing Israel.ย  How’s your lead in life? ย  Is your faith a banner that leads you through each day?๐Ÿ›ก๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ˜Šโค๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ›ก

Joshua 20… covers God’s provision of a Refuge City. Revenge killing was appropriate in under the law,ย  carried out by a member of the victims family,ย  against the murderer.ย  But sometimes a person could be killed by accident, without previous hostility (20:5), and The Lord gave this provision.ย  The accused was to flee to the city gate where the city elders would hear his case.ย  They would give him a place to live,ย  and he would be tried by the local assembly,ย  who would render judgement.ย  This provided a means of fair trial.ย  I notice the integrity of it…. the one involved fled to one of these cities.ย  He confessed the situation – even though it was an accident. ย  Imagine our courts if people were as forth coming today. ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ“œ๐Ÿ’ฌโš–๐Ÿ’ฌ๐Ÿ“œ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿพโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Joshua 21 – This is beautiful!ย  Everything the Lord promised was fulfilled- land, rest, protection, everything (21:43-45).ย  Every promise of God is trustworthy and true.ย  Like the Israelites,ย  our job is to say yes and live it! ย  What good is the land if they didn’t claim it? Establish towns? Farm it?ย  God’s desire is that all would be saved… he offers Salvation through Jesus Christ to all…. but not all take it.ย  Step into the gift. ย  Take hold. ย  Jesus is calling. ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽโค๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ

Joshua 22 – the tribes of Reuben, Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh are commended and released to their land on the east side of the Jordan River for rest.ย  The tribes built an altar in Canaan which stirred up Israel.ย  I like this example of brotherly love,ย  Phinehas questions them, and even offers his own land… Phinehas was willing to sacrifice personally to restore his brothers. But when the tribes explained what the altar was for, Phinehas was humble to admit he had made a wrong assessment,ย  and returned to tell Israel what happened, to set the record straight.ย  We have great lessons in this little chapter… best summed up in vs :5…. LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD,ย  WALK IN HIS WAYS, OBEY HIS COMMANDS,ย  HOLD FIRMLY TO HIM,ย  AND SERVE HIM WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND ALL YOUR SOUL. โค๐Ÿ‘ฃ๐Ÿคฒ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿคฒ๐Ÿ‘ฃโค

Joshua 23 – love God. ย  Cling tightly to the Lord. ย  Joshua is now very old and giving these final words to Israel. Life is so simple, yet we clutter it with stuff. ย  We flirt with danger. ย  We’re prone to complacency.ย  Love God. ย  The cure for all that is wrong in this world is that simple.ย  What are your plans today? ย  Love God in them…. stay connected to your Creator. ย  Life can be a wonderland or a wasteland… choose to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul,ย  mind and strength. ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ’•

Joshua 24 – Joshua concluded his life with the same courage, clarity and reverence he stood for every day. ย  He was a leader under God, and the Lord established the Promised land through him. ย  Do you walk with Jesus in a way he can use you? ย  Notice in 24:2-13 he is speaking prophetically (God is speaking through Joshua), summarizing God’s faithfulness. ย  Also notice the complete lack of condemnation – the Lord recalls the good,ย  but none of the shortfalls. Vs :27 stood out to me. ย  The rock bore witness.ย  Jesus is our rock. Choose on this day whom you will serve.๐Ÿ’– ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿคฒ๐Ÿ•Š๐Ÿ“œ๐ŸŽš๐Ÿ•Š๐Ÿคฒ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’–

Colossians

Read Colossians 1:1-2ย  We are moving from Old Testament to New today with the book of Colossians. ย  It’s in the middle area of the NT…. my friend,ย  Nicole,ย  taught me the phrase:ย  General Electric Power Company as a way to remember Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians.ย  The NT starts with the accounts of the apostles,ย  Matthew, Mark, Luke and John as they walked with Jesus. Acts covers the acts of the apostles as the Holy Spirit arrived and led them to establish Christianity… Then Romans,ย  where Paul brought the Gospel to Rome, and wrote many of the epistles (letters) including Colossians where we will pick up. This passage is so rich, we don’t want to rush through, so today, simply consider the bible. ย  It is complex and simple.ย  It is wise and reliable. And sit with the idea of Paul, established by God,ย  writing from prison with a heart brimming with love and protection.ย  ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ“œ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ“œ๐Ÿ“–

Colossians 1:3-14 – Paul begins with a warm greeting, then in vs 1:9-12 we receive a model for prayer asking for:ย  A) complete knowledge of God’s will and spiritual wisdom.ย  B) a walk worthy as Jesus’s ambassador. C) grow to know God better everyday D) Strength, joy and gratitude…. Pray this for yourself first (keeps the ‘plank in your eye’ in check as Jesus cautions against in Matthew 7:5) then those you intercede for – don’t forget to pray for your pastor in this way too! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘ฃ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘ฃ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Colossians 1:15-23 I’m hoping our reading is easy for you.ย  Just a little each day is like the daily bread Jesus commissioned us to pray for (the Lord’s Prayer/ Our Father – Matthew 6:11,Luke 11:3).ย  We are shown the unity of God and Jesus in this passage…. they are one as shown in 1:19-20.ย  We see our own separation redeemedย  1:21-22. Much like in Joshua 24:2-13, God only holds on to the good in His children.ย  And we are given our part,ย  our call to action in 1:23 that is to believe and not drift.ย  This is HUGE and simple. ย  Meditate on this beautiful passage today. ย  ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿค—

Colossians 1:24-29 “Heavenly Father,ย  as I open your Word,ย  bless me to receive all that you have for me,ย  and bless me to share it.ย  Amen”ย  This is my prayer as I begin reading…. always that I would be filled first because one cannot give away from an empty cup, and then that I would not keep it to myself. ย  Paul speaks of his great and wonderful responsibility of serving Christ’s church, of mysteries revealed to gentiles (like me) of the riches and glory of Christ, and the amazing assurance that Jesus lives in believers.ย  It’s like falling in love,ย  wanting more and more each day as one considers what Paul is saying! I encourage you to pray for your own understanding each time you open your bible…. the Word is living and active, Jesus has something brand new for you every day if you simply ask. ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ“–๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐ŸŽ‰

Colossians 2 – Freedom,ย  mystery,ย  fullness,ย  and the authority to break the rules all come from Jesus!ย  Paul urges the believers,ย  and us by extension,ย  to reject empty philosophies and pious self denial that human thinking and the spiritual powers of this world put forth (2:8,23).ย  LET YOUR ROOTS GROW DOWN INTO HIM, AND LET YOUR LIVES BE BUILT ON HIM. ย  THEN YOUR FAITH WILL GROW STRONG IN THE TRUTH YOU WERE TAUGHT, AND YOU WILL OVERFLOW WITH THANKFULNESS. (2:7 โ€ HIM = JESUS).ย  What bondage and lies of this world do you need to release today,ย  as you step into the strength and thankfulness Jesus has for you??? ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ™†โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ™†โ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ’–

Colossians 3 – Are you living differently as a believer in Jesus Christ?  Jesus lives in you and gives you the ability – but are you still taking Him to places of lust, greed, anger, rage and dirty language?  Even these words sit ugly on my tongue.

Consider His desire for you – that you clothe yourself in tenderness, mercy, kindness, forgiveness and above all else,ย  LOVE.ย  Let the peace of Christ rule your heart! โœŒ๐Ÿ•Š๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ•ŠโœŒ

Colossians 4 – No!ย  I kept turning the page for more, but chapter 4 closes out the book of Colossians. ย  I have really grown from this upbeat wisdom.ย  As Paul was running through the list of people at the end, my eye caught on Nympha and the church in her house (4:15)… she represents the significance we all hold, as we do what we can, where we are at…. here her name is in God’s Word for all time.ย  What will be mentioned with my name in heaven? Judy who poured soda pop on airplanes? Judy who loves Jesus?ย  How about you?ย  Jesus, may each beloved soul who reads your Word remember they are eternal. ย  May their words and actions be worthy of the future, the hope, and the joy you secured in our Salvation. In Jesus name. Amen ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป
