Matthew 11

Read Matthew 11 – Love is a battlefield – the fight for souls is a battlefield – God Almighty longs for us so much that he sent Jesus into our fallen world to live a sinless life, die on the Cross and be resurrected for our atonement; Jesus is our Salvation. His very life paid the cost of our sin… “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

Jesus and John the Baptist have a conversation through John’s disciples, as John was in prison. John wanted to know if Jesus was the long awaited Messiah. Jesus offers the fruit of his ministry as evidence… Anyone could say yes, but the fruit, the healings, restored life even from the dead, and the Good News preached confirm Jesus’s legitimacy. (:1-6) The fruit of one’s life confirms who they are more than their words.

We live in perilous times; evil no longer tries to hide. The battle continues to escalate and verse :12 is a wake-up to the battle at hand. Jesus says, “From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and the violent take it by force.”

Jesus says: “To what can I compare this generation: They are like children sitting in the market-places calling out to others: ‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.’ “ :16-17

Beloved, may your faith be strong and wise. May Jesus meet you in your prayers to fiercely protect and snatch those otherwise perishing. Do not be like these people Jesus speaks of who are so blinded by the world’s expectations that they miss the truth of who Jesus is and the Salvation that he freely gives.

Take heart in what Jesus offers when he says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

Psalm 27

Read Psalm 27 – Know Jesus, know peace… I don’t know who said that, but it is a wonderful truth. The closer one clings to the LORD, the less power the troubles of this life have.

Our Psalm is a great weapon against anything that may threaten your peace too. Sometimes we need to remind ourselves: THE LORD IS MY LIGHT AND MY SALVATION; WHOM SHALL I FEAR? THE LORD IS THE STRONGHOLD OF MY LIFE; OF WHOM SHALL I BE AFRAID? :1

So many good things await us and can be discovered in this Psalm! Will you treasure hunt for them and hold them close?

Luke 14

Read Luke 14 – Are you Christian-lite or Christian-LIGHT?

Jesus challenges a leader of the Pharisees, and some experts in religious law, by asking about healing on the Sabbath.  He was at a dinner party in the Pharisees house at the time and continued to teach from that setting.

He taught on humility (:7-14), as he watched the dinner guests competing for seats of honor, like Nascar drivers for the checkered flag (Nascar isn’t specifically mentioned in Scripture, I just wanted to give a shout out to my hubby and a few other fans).

He taught on those who accept and those who reject the invitation to the banquet in the Kingdom of God.  Here’s where lite/light comes into play – are you too busy for God to use you?  Do you rest on your laurels and not think much about your faith in the day to day?  Or are you humble, hungry and eager to serve the Lord with all that you are?

Jesus wants to know if you’ve counted the cost and are all in (:15-33)?

“Salt is good for seasoning.  But if it loses its flavor, how do you make it salty again?” :34.   Salt is amazing, it seasons food; it can preserve meat; it can add nutrients to soil, but flavorless salt is useless – even for the manure pile (:35).

Beloved, live as the salt of the earth, making people thirsty for Jesus.  Live as the light of the world, shining for Jesus.🧂💡🍽💗🍽💡🧂

Psalm 119:

Monday!  Monday! – Read Psalm 119:97-112 – Current global/ local news events have my heart off balance.  Our Psalmist writes:  I HAVE SUFFERED MUCH, O LORD; RESTORE MY LIFE AGAIN AS YOU PROMISED. 116:107 And I thought of the hope it takes to endure suffering with rescue as a light at the end of the tunnel.  My friend, whatever you are going through, keep your eyes on Jesus.  This is not your forever.  He is your forever!  Though the wicked set traps, do not stray from the Lord’s commands(119:110).  God’s Word will keep you wiser than your enemies(119:98).  There is so much to hope for when we walk with the Lord.  Beloved, may your day be led with the goodness and love of Jesus Christ, our Savior.🏳🏳🙏🏻☝️🙏🏻🏳🏳
