Matthew 15

Read Mathew 15 – Jesus,  Jesus,  Jesus…. What a wonderful name. Today, we get to walking with him on the lakeshore…. We get to watch as he takes no bologna off the Pharisees over hand washing, and teaching us what he meant in the exchange. (:1-9)

Jesus gave them (us) courage to offend the Pharisees (false teachers)  by shedding this light on them.  “It’s not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out; this defiles a person. ” :11 And regarding these hypocrites he says,  “Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into the pit.” :14

The passage with the Canaanite woman is amazing whenever one is feeling insignificant. :21-28 She has been made to feel insignificant by society and Jesus kind of lets that play out. But she doesn’t let go. She reminds him that even the dogs get the crumbs that fall to the floor…. With Jesus, even a crumb is more than enough! And Jesus answers,  “O woman,  great is your faith! Be it done as you desire.” :28

We walk with Jesus beside the Sea of Galilee, and up a hillside as he teaches and heals people for three days.  Then he feeds them by once again giving thanks for the seven loaves of bread and a few fish. Gratitude can turn not enough into plenty with Jesus.

Beloved, what do you need to seek Jesus over today? Will you carve out some quiet time to be with him?

Psalm 9

Read Psalm 9 – I had been walking with Christ for just a few weeks when my crew was reassigned one more flight at the end of a long day. The passengers had been waiting for hours as a plane was repaired and flown down from our headquarters 3 states away.  There was no catering on the aircraft,  not so much as a paper cup for tap water.

Upon learning this my colleague asked, “Are you Christian? ”  I said yes.   She grabbed me by the hands and said we were going to pray about this and proceeded to lift our catering delima up to Jesus.

Our competitors soon  came steaming in with snacks and cases of drinks.   We ended up with more than enough. Our inconvenienced passengers were filled with gratitude instead of attitude!

That was the day I learned how much Jesus cares about the little things as much as the big.   Nothing is too hard for him and He never seems to bless ‘just a little’.

There’s a women’s event I wanted to go to tomorrow, but I was scheduled to fly.  The trade box was full and no one seemed to be picking up.   I asked a few of my Sisters to pray for me, remembering what Jesus did way back when. Sure enough, I got the day off.

I’m Psalm 9, David recounts the wonderful deeds of God in answer to his prayers. I pray this sparks your own memories of answered prayers, big and small. Our faith grows when we remember the Lord’s faithfulness.

2 Samuel 5

Read 2 Samuel 5 – David’s reign as King over all of Israel is official – He was 30 years old at this time and reigned for 40 years (5:4).  Have you ever waited a long time for something to come true?

King David is anointed king (5:3), he overtakes the Jebusite land and makes it the City of David(5:7), he extends the city and becomes more and more powerful, KIng Hiram comes alongside David with gifts of timber and workmen, AND THEN, King David realized the Lord had confirmed and blessed him as king over Israel(5:12).  Sometimes the truth of God’s hand of blessing is all around you, but you have to let go of fight/survival mode before you can accept it.  Gratitude is the cure.  Gratitude changes your lens.

The Philistines learn David is King, they set out against him.  David asks God and the Lord says, yes, I will certainly hand them over to you (5:19).  David has all the power and authority, yet he remains humble under the Lord, setting a timeless example for us to cling to.👑😍🙏🏻⚓🙏🏻😍👑
